About the event
History books tend to reduce Mrs. Parks to her moment on the bus and Harriet Tubman to her deeds on the Underground Railroad. Before the Montgomery Bus Boycott, Mrs. Parks was already a fierce activist, focusing her tenacity on getting justice for women who fell victim to sexual violence in the South. In between her shuttling Black folks from bondage to freedom, the most famous conductor of the Underground Railroad accomplished a feat no woman like her ever had. In June of 1863, due to her strategic mind, a very successful raid planned by none other than Harriett Tubman freed over 700 people in one single night! There is so much more to people than we know. Come take a deeper look into two iconic figures and some of the most amazing feats of bravery performed in the name of community.
