Felton Offard, Music Director of Fannie! The life and music of Mrs. Fannie Lou Hamer
"AJ Musewe is an absolute Black-ass treasure. She is the dopest historian you'll meet. Unflinchingly honest and unapologetically Black, she makes history fun and dives deep into interesting backstories that humanize so many folks we thought we knew. Thought you knew about Robert Smalls? Thought you knew about Fannie Lou Hamer and myriad others? Prepare to be schooled, entertained, and challenged. Buckle up, buttercup; school is in session."

"In this brief but comprehensive 30-minute talk, AJ will cover how the Reconstruction Amendments came to be and what those amendments mean to Black people in the past and today. She will discuss some of the ways in which Black activists were part of shaping this country even before the Constitution. The talk will highlight Mum Bett, a Black woman whose landmark lawsuit, Brom and Bett v. Ashley (1781), found slavery to be inconsistent with the Massachusetts State Constitution. Join us as we explore what the Constitution means to Black communities, through the lens of freedom, immigration, and history. And consider how the Constitution is used as a weapon as well as a form of protection throughout history and today. "
Siona Peterous, audio-visual storyteller, podcast producer and writer
"AJ is an encyclopedia of knowledge on the history of the Black diaspora. And while that in of itself is impressive, what really makes her work shine is her ability to teach through stories. She knows how to guide people through the most tense, horrific moments with care and how to balance those moments with the lighthearted tales as well."
A history nerd's dream moment

AJ (brimming with excitement and trying to keep it together) moderating a panel with the Rev. Dr. James Lawson and Dr. Charlene Sinclair at the Samuel DeWitt Proctor Institute for Child Advocacy Ministry's Black Citizenship in Action Panel Sankofa: From the Civil Rights Movement to #BlackLivesMatter. In this clip, Rev. Lawson emphasizes the importance of Black women to the success of the Movement and the lack of acknowledgment by academia.
